Caroline Wilson has hit back at “inaccurate” claims from Jeff Kennett about her article on Cyril Rioli’s strained relationship with Hawthorn.

Kennett told 3AW’s Twilight Zone program on Saturday he’d “begged” her not to run the story and had contacted him the “night before” the story ran.

“That is such an inaccurate assessment,” Caroline Wilson said on Monday.

She said the under-siege Hawthorn president had “played the man as usual”.
