What’ll be ‘interesting’ about the election campaign while Albanese is in isolation
Anthony Albanese has tested positive to COVID-19, forcing him to change his election campaign plans for the next seven days.
Nine News political reporter in Canberra, Jonathan Kearsley, says it’ll be “interesting” to see whether advertising targeting the Labor leader is paused while he’s in isolation.
“We saw during the US presidential campaign, when Donald Trump got COVID, Joe Biden pulled the attack ads until he was better,” he told Ross and Russel.
“Whether Scott Morrison will do the same … that’ll be an interesting one.”
Mr Kearsley says the Labor campaign “will roll on”, and now the social media strategy becomes incredibly important.
“They have to make their leader resonate over the next seven days,” he said.
“We might well see some virtual Albo.”
