Victoria increases security in wake of Paris attacks
Melburnians can expect a visible police presence today in the wake of the terror attacks in Paris.
Premier Daniel Andrews says police don’t believe there is a direct threat against Victoria but the terror alert level remains high.
Additional security measures were taken for major public events yesterday.
Extra police will be deployed throughout Melbourne today, with a particular focus on public transport.
‘It’s just about making sure we reassure the community … that everything’s being done to keep us safe,’ Mr Andrews said.
But he says people should be alert, not alarmed, adding we shouldn’t let the fear of terrorism define us.
