One man’s plan to commemorate a forgotten battle
Barry Gracey has a dream to commemorate one of Australia’s forgotten battles.
He wants to build a memorial to raise awareness of the World War 1 Battle of Pozi?res, in which 7,000 Australians died.
Mr Gracey is paying for this project out of his own pocket.
‘If we can’t raise enough money, my wife and I will sell our house,’ he told Neil Mitchell.
To help raise money, Mr Gracey is selling off naming rights on the memorial’s bricks, and a number of 3AW listeners called in to pledge their support.
