Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says the Opposition Leader’s failure to answer questions about the unemployment rate and cash rate proves “he’s out of his depth”.

Anthony Albanese apologised after not knowing the figures on day 1 of campaigning.

Mr Frydenberg said it says a lot about Labor’s leader.

“It goes to the heart of his capability and his competency,” he told Tony Jones on 3AW Mornings.

“For the last three years he’s been trying to sneak into government being a small target … and now that the election’s been called, the starters guns been fired, journalist are starting to ask him the questions and there’s a spotlight on him.”
