A leading vape advocate says a recent government report should look at the harmful effects of vaping relative to smoking.

The study, conducted by the Australian National University, showed the use of e-cigarettes can be harmful to non-users and young people.

But Brian Marlow, Campaign Director at Legalise Vaping Australia, said despite the findings, e-cigarettes containing nicotine should still be legalised as they’re safer than cigarettes.

“No one is saying that vaping is harmless,” he told Tony Jones on 3AW Drive.

“No one is saying that people who do not smoke should take up vaping, but if you’re a smoker … you should consider switching to vaping, because it is a harm-reduction product, it’s not a harmless product.”
