Telstra launch new technology to block scam texts
Telstra is aiming to prevent scam text messages from being received by introducing a high level filter.
It comes after they received over 11,000 reports of scam texts to Android devices in 2021.
That’s compared to only 50 the year before.
Chief information security officer at Telstra, Narelle Devine, told Tom Elliott the new technology has been designed to recognise malicious links and phone numbers.
“They’ll stop them before they even reach your mobile phone,” she said on 3AW Mornings.
“We’re expecting it that it will block up to 100 million SMSes a month.”
