Tradie tells of intervention in alleged Kew sex attack
A Melbourne tradie has told Tony Jones how he chased and caught a man involved in an alleged sexual assault in the inner-east.
Lawrence said he and a colleague, Boris, were working on a construction site in Kew when they heard a 16-year-old schoolgirl scream.
The father of the girl then pointed them in the direction of the man who committed the alleged assault.
Lawrence said the pair then pursued the man before catching him, and marched him back to a ute where they waited for police.
“He ran up the hill and we chased him and got up to him,” Lawrence said on 3AW Drive.
“I think he kind of worked out that he was pretty much done for … once we caught up to him.”
Police said the man has since been charged with one count of sexual assault.
