The isolation rule a business leader says ‘just doesn’t make sense’
The boss of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is calling for isolation rules for close contacts to be ditched immediately.
And he’s not the only one.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick called on Daniel Andrews to ditch the close contact rule after his team’s loss to St Kilda.
It came in response to Richmond player Sydney Stack being forced to sit out of a VFL game because he lives with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
Speaking to Tom Elliott, filling in for Neil Mitchell, chief executive of VCCI, Paul Guerra, says “we either use rapid tests or we don’t”.
“Why in one instance do we believe the rapid test and we go into iso, and yet in the other we don’t believe it and we still have to stay in iso if we’re a close contact?,” he queried.
“It just doesn’t make sense in an environment where we’re struggling for workers to get back.”
