Doubts surface over Adam Goodes’ ability to handle politics
Adam Goodes has reportedly been approached by the Labor Party to run as a candidate at the next federal election.
But questions about his suitability for the role abound.
Political strategist Glenn Druery told Neil Mitchell the big question was whether Goodes could handle the ‘cut and thrust’ of politics.
‘In the world of politics, you’ve got to have a very, very thick skin,’ Mr Druery said.
Goodes took a leave of absence during the 2015 AFL season after being booed by crowds across the country.
Mr Druery said celebrities have a history of being unsuccessful in political careers.
‘They’ve got to know how to play the game or they simply won’t last,’ he said.
