Leigh Matthews has revealed he still hasn’t spoken with Adam Heuskes after his final game for Brisbane on July 29, 2000.

And not because he’s on bad terms with Heuskes, he was just never able to get a hold of him.

Speaking on 3AW, Matthews said Heuskes didn’t attend recovery after the match against St Kilda, with the club discovering he was back in Adelaide on the Monday.

He never played in the AFL again.

Matthews said he made multiple attempts to contact his player but his calls were never returned.

“I still can’t believe we walked away from the football on that Saturday night and I’ve never spoken to him since,” Matthews said on 3AW.

“It’s quite remarkable when you think about it.”
