Victorian opposition abandons plans to scrap mental health levy
The Victorian opposition has abandoned plans to repeal the mental health levy, should the Coalition win government later this year.
Shadow Treasurer David Davis explained why on 3AW on Monday.
“The truth of the matter is that we did oppose the levy when it went through parliament and we did that because we thought it was preferable to be paid out of general revenue,” he said.
“The state of the books has deteriorated massively since that time.
“We have to face the reality of these matters.”
