Sorry vegetarians! New research has found meat consumption correlates directly with greater life expectancy.

University of Adelaide researchers analysed data from more than 180 countries to come to the conclusion.

Emeritus Professor at University of Adelaide, Maciej Henneberg, says the result came as no surprise.

“Our ancestors for, give or take the last two million years, ate meat mostly,” he told Ross and Russel.

“Our body is adapted to digesting meat and using meat to build up our body and maintain our physiology.”

“Meat is a very high quality food, it contains all elements and all compounds that are necessary to nourish our body and therefore we don’t have to spend time digesting food.”
