Business leader reacts to easing of Victoria’s COVID-19 rules
Masks will be scrapped in most settings and the work from home recommendation will be dropped at 11.59pm on Friday.
Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO, Paul Guerra, says it’s “great news”.
He expects there will be a “surge” of workers returning to the office next week.
“There’s no impediments now for people coming back into the office which means we can get all parts of Melbourne up and running,” he told Ross and Russel.
But Mr Guerra says it’s unlikely most workers will return five days a week.
‘I think you’ll see a surge coming back into the city, I don’t think we’re going back to five days a week, I think it’ll sort of tap out at three days a week. But you know what … that’s still pretty good,” he said.
“I think every employer, whether it’s government, whether it’s private, whether it’s union, will be having discussions now about what return to work looks like.”
