On Monday, police arrested one of Australia’s most wanted fugitives in far north Queensland.

Convicted killer Graham Potter had been on the run since 2010, when he failed to appear at court to front conspiracy to murder charges.

Victoria Police Acting Assistant Commissioner Mick Frewen says the arrest came down to “some really credible information received by the public”.

“Graham really didn’t say much on his arrest yesterday and pretty much only conceded who he was at the time of taking his fingerprints,” he told Neil Mitchell.

The fugitive was allegedly recruited as a mafia hit-man. John ‘Sly’ Silvester says if that’s true, Potter was “a better escapee than a hit man”.

“On one particular occasion, going to the scene his car broke down not once but twice,” he told Ross and Russel.

John ‘Sly’ Silvester says Potter was living in squalor, and prison will be an upgrade”.

“It’s a pretty amazing thing to be off the grid for 12 years.”
