If you eat the same nutritious lunch every day, a gut health expert has warned you’re not as healthy as you think.

Director of the food and mood centre at Deakin University, Felice Jacka, says variety is the key to good gut health.

“What we know now is the gut microbiome, so they’re the bugs that live in our gut, seem to play a very important role in our health, including our mental and brain health,” she explained to Neil Mitchell.

“A healthy diverse gut microbiota is dependent on a healthy and diverse diet, meaning that the more types of foods – particularly plant foods – that you eat, the healthier and more like a robust rainforest your gut will be.”
