A state government summit to revive the CBD will be held on Friday as business leaders urge the government to do more to bring people back into the city.

Lord Mayor Sally Capp says two restriction changes are the key to getting people back in city offices.

“Remove the work from home advice, that’s the first barrier,” she told Ross and Russel.

Ms Capp says removing the mandatory mask rule while sitting at desks is the second priority.

“We’ve certainly been having really good discussions with state government about the nuance of wearing masks when you’re sitting at your desk versus wearing a mask when you’re walking around buildings and in common areas,” she said.

“We’ve really put the case forward, from lots of feedback of CEOs, to say if employees are allowed to at least sit at their desks without masks that would remove a major deterrent to return to workplaces.”
