The push is on for Melburnians to jump back on public transport.

PT use is still 45 per cent down on pre-pandemic levels.

And that figure drops even further on Monday and Friday, with Neil Mitchell almost certain that is due to people working from home before and after the weekend.

“It’s fair to say it is a small percentage drop, but it is a drop,” Nick Foa, head of transport services for the Department of Transport, told Neil Mitchell.

“My view is public transport is a far better option than driving into the city.

“It’s never been cleaner, it’s a really reliable service and people are still wearing masks.”
