Federal and Victorian governments locked in weird feud over quarantine centre
With Victoria’s purpose-built quarantine facility just weeks away from opening, the state and federal governments are locked in a strange feud.
“There’s a funny twist to this,” Neil Mitchell said.
“The state and federal governments can’t even agree on a name for this thing! Shows how well they work together.”
The $200 million, 1000 bed facility has been built by the federal government and will be managed by the state government.
The federal government wants to call the site the ‘Centre for National Resilience’.
But Neil Mitchell understand the state government is referring to the facility as the ‘Victorian Quarantine Hub’.
