The push is on for Sunnyside North Beach to lose its legal protection as a nudist beach.

Mornington Peninsula Shire has voted to ask locals and Sunnyside North Beach users about their experiences at the ‘clothing optional’ Mt Eliza beach.

Naturist Michael runs the ‘Keep Sunnyside Beach Clothing Optional’ action group and rejected suggestions the beach was a “cesspit” of drug use and sexual activity.

He said he was concerned by the reports.

“Something has to have triggered the push for a review,” Michael told Dee Dee Dunleavy.

“It hasn’t been fessed up to, or owned.”
