There are reports the AFL could secure a deal with the Western Australian government that would allow clubs to fly-in and fly-out of the state this season, despite tight border restrictions due to COVID-19.

7 News reporter Ryan Daniels told 3AW the scenario being floated would see clubs arrive in Perth a day before their match, with heavy testing protocols.

“I think that’s where we are heading, not just as a best-case scenario, but a most-likely scenario,” he told Sportsday.

He said it would negate the need for hubs.

But Sam McClure questioned how that would go down with the community in general, given society at large still cannot enter the state.
