Disgraced former lord mayor Robert Doyle could be stripped of his Australian honour.

The Council for the Order of Australia has confirmed to 3AW Mornings it will review Mr Doyle’s Companion of the Order (AC) award.

It comes after three investigations found the former lord mayor behaved in sexually inappropriate ways towards three women.

Joseph Cooper-Nolan, an occupational therapist who says his father died at a Royal Melbourne Hospital facility when Mr Doyle was chair, made a complaint to the Council for the Order of Australia calling for Mr Doyle’s award to be revoked.

Mr Cooper-Nolan claims his father died under unlawful circumstances and the family is pursing the matter in court.

Under the Order of Australia terminations and cancellations ordinance, the Governor-General may terminate an appointment or cancel an award if they believe the holder of the appointment or award has “behaved or acted in a manner that has brought disrepute to the order”.
