Three ways to ease pressure on Australia’s truck drivers
The chairman of the Australian Trucking Association says he’s never seen the country’s freight network as stretched to the limit as it is now.
David Smith, who is also owner of D&S Smith Haulage, told 3AW Drive the shortage of drivers – which existed prior to COVID-19 – needed to be recognised.
Mr Smith said the “entire food chain” was under pressure.
“It’s bad, yes,” he said.
He listed three ideas that had been floated to help get more drivers on the road.
