Moulin Rouge musical abruptly cancelled mid-performance
WORD ON THE STREET
Today’s Moulin Rouge musical was abruptly cancelled midway through the performance.
There was about 30 minutes of the performance left when the packed Regent Theatre crowd were told to exit the theatre.
Janet told Seb Costello, filling in for Tom Elliott, a loudspeaker announcement informed the audience there would be a short break and the curtain went down.
“About five or 10 minutes later the MC walked onto the stage and said ‘I’m sorry but we’ll need to cancel today’s performance’,” she said.
Show-goers were told Ticketmaster would be in contact to arrange compensation.
Janet said she was “really, really shocked that there was no reason given” for the performance cancellation.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the musical said the cancellation of the performance came after a positive COVID-19 test result within the wider company became known.
