Olympic hero Harry Garside says he’ll donate “every cent” of a lucrative $20,000 bonus, should he claim it by winning his first professional boxing bout tonight with the “best” knockout of the night.

Garside, who captured national attention by winning bronze at the Tokyo games, is jumping in the ring as a professional for the first time this evening against Sachin Mudaliar.

There is a $20,000 bonus up for grabs for the boxer who is judged to have landed the best knockout punch of the nine-fight card in Sydney.

Garside said he’ll be handing that over to charity, should it be him.

“They need the money more than I do,” he said, referencing the homeless, single parents and sick children.

“I’m pretty basic and can live off nothing.

“I’ll be going in aiming for the knockout.”

In a fascinating interview with Tony Jones, who is filling in for Neil Mitchell, Garside revealed how he was spending the day in the lead-up to his debut professional fight.

“I think my partner wants to take me Christmas shopping,” he said with a laugh.
