Pharmacy Guild makes plea to Scott Morrison, says ‘utter chaos’ looms with booster shots
It will be “utter chaos” if the federal government shortens COVID-19 booster shot intervals, an exasperated president of the Victorian branch of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia has warned.
Anthony Tassone told 3AW the system was already stretched to the limit and has pleaded with the federal government to “properly” resource the vaccine rollout program.
He said the system was already struggling to keep up with demand, with “just over half” of pharmacies that were previously doing vaccinations continuing their participation in the program due to cost and supply issues.
“All we are asking from the federal government is to help us help the community,” Mr Tassone said on 3AW.
“We want to help.
“We want to be there for our patients.
“But it’s going to cause utter chaos in the network if we aren’t resourced properly to be able to meet that demand.”
