Victorians will have to pay an additional $1.9 billion for the West Gate Tunnel.

The Andrews Government has cut a deal with Transurban and builders that will see tunneling begin as early as March.

Grattan Institute Transport and Cities Program Director Marion Terrill told 3AW Breakfast the government didn’t do its due diligence.

“This particular project was really rushed to market,” she said.
