Victoria to do ‘everything we can’ to keep NSW border open for Christmas
Christmas travel plans between Victoria and NSW are safe for now, with the leaders of both states vowing to keep borders open despite the increasing number of Omicron cases.
NSW has the highest number of Omicron cases but Victoria is set to remain in step with NSW when it comes to travel restrictions.
Premier Daniel Andrews says he is in regular contact with NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet and they will be doing “everything we can” to keep the borders between the two states open so families can get together over Christmas.
Victoria has so far recorded no new cases of the new strain but Daniel Andrews says in reality its probably circulating here undetected.
He says the state government will not be pursuing an “Omicron zero” strategy.
