Why there are extra concerns about Christmas parties this silly season
There are concerns Christmas parties could be an even riskier environment than normal this year, with businesses urged to consider alcohol free alternatives to increase the likelihood of appropriate behaviour.
Jane Burns, a well-being and mental health expert at the Clarity Group, told Neil Mitchell there was no doubt people were out of practice when it came to social events.
She said the trauma of the past two years would likely only add fuel to the fire.
“There are real questions how people are going to interact at Christmas parties, particularly when alcohol is involved,” Professor Burns said.
“Particularly where there are conversations that become a bit looser after a few drinks.”
She said social interaction was vital, but issued a word of warning ahead of the “silly” season.
“Don’t go to a Christmas party thinking this is the time to go on a bender,” she said.
