Police left ‘flabbergasted’ by teenage hoons
Police have been left flabbergasted after four different teenagers were nabbed driving well over the speed limit on Peninsula Link on Sunday night.
Three men and a woman, all aged 19, were caught by police.
They were travelling at 161km/h, 141km/h, 138km/h and 127km/h in the 100 zone.
“It’s extremely disappointing behaviour from these young people,” Senior Sergeant Phillip Huller from Somerville Highway Patrol told Neil Mitchell.
He said making matters worse, the teens had “really disappointing attitudes” once caught.
“Most didn’t really understand or care about their actions,” he said.
“One just wanted to get some McDonald’s and another didn’t want to talk about it – they’re probably lucky they can talk about it.”
He also hit out at parents who “enable” bad driving behaviour from their children by paying the fines or taking demerit points, which is against the law.
