James Kelly joins Essendon as top-up player, Mark Jamar, Mathew Stokes and Jonathan Simpkin also in talks
Essendon football boss Rob Kerr has confirmed James Kelly will be a Bomber this year.
He also revealed on Sports Today former Melbourne ruckman Mark Jamar, Mathew Stokes and Jonathan Simpkin were also in discussions about being top-up players this year.
3AW’s Sam McClure broke the news on Wednesday morning that Kelly would play for Essendon this year, with Kerr saying the move would be ‘official’ shortly.
‘There’s a lot of things which need to be crossed off, but we’ve moved pretty closely with James,’ he explained.
‘Most of the names being bandied about are pretty close to the mark.’
A tweet from Kelly on Wednesday night confirmed he’d be a Bomber in 2016.
