Smoke from Tasmanian fires reaches Victoria
Seen or smelt smoke over Victoria?
Don’t panic – it’s most likely from the fires in Tasmania.
MFB chief officer Peter Rau told 3AW Breakfast the smoke had been pushed north due to winds.
Dozens of blazes are burning out of control in remote areas of Tasmania’s north-west after recent lightning strikes.
Mr Rau said smoke could be seen from as far as Bacchus Marsh to Gippsland, and could even reach Bendigo.
‘It’s got a fair spread,’ he said.
