Western Freeway closed city-bound after truck and car collide head-on
The Western Freeway into Melbourne will be closed for much of the morning as police investigate a head-on crash.
A car crossed onto the wrong side of the freeway at Caroline Springs, colliding with an oncoming truck at about 2am.
The driver and passengers from the car have suffered life-threatening injuries.
Chris Miller from the Department of Transport says the Western Freeway is blocked at Hopkins Road.
Motorists are advised to use Hopkins Road and Boundary Road to access the Deer Park Bypass or the M80 Ring Road, or consider Melton Highway as an alternative.
