Car seized as police probe new theory in William Tyrrell disappearance
A car has been seized from Sydney’s south as part of investigations into the disappearance of William Tyrrell.
The grey Mazda 3 was retrieved under a Coronial Order, and will be forensically examined at a secure facility.
Police say it is related to the renewed search currently being conducted in Kendall, on the New South Wales mid-north coast.
They have been pulling out plants and sifting through the top soil of a garden bed at the home where William Tyrrell was last seen seven years ago.
Speaking on 4BC this morning, Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews revealed the AFP Forensic Unit has been deployed to Kendall.
NSW Police Commissioner, Mick Fuller, on Tuesday told 2GB there’s “one person, in particular, we are looking closely at”.
Sydney Morning Herald crime reporter Sally Rawsthorne told Dee Dee it’s thought the new searches have been spurred by “credible new information”.
“They’re underneath the balcony on the property and they’ve been pulling out all the plants, sifting though the dirt … there’s also someone with a sprayer of luminol, which is a substance that police use to detect traces of blood,” she said.
Police are investigating a theory that three-year-old Tyrrell fell from the balcony at the property.
Officers are also searching two other locations in Kendall.
“Down the road about a kilometre away there’s members of the RFS and other community volunteer SES types that are felling trees,” Ms Rawsthorne said.
“The cadaver dog which was previously at the house has gone down the road and is sniffing around at the moment.”
