Rumour confirmed: The Elms Family Hotel is closing down
RUMOUR FILE CONFIRMED
One of Melbourne’s oldest and most iconic pubs is closing down.
The Elms Family Hotel, in a property owned by a superannuation fund, will make way for an office block.
It has sat on the corner of Spring and Little Lonsdale streets since 1855.
‘There’s a couple (of CBD pubs) that are older, but we’ve had the longest continuous license,’ licensee Genevieve Tierney told Ross and John.

The Elms will close on Monday, but Ms Tierney is hopeful of finding a new location soon.
‘We’ve got a couple of irons in the fire.’
It’s believed the facade of the Elms Family Hotel is heritage-listed.
