Victorian beach towns brace for Schoolies week
Lorne, Phillip Island, Torquay and the Mornington Peninsula are bracing for an influx of teenagers from next week, with Schoolies about to commence.
And after a torrid final two years of school, due to persistent lockdowns, those on the ground are bracing for some over-excited celebrations.
“I think they’ll have a little bit more energy stored up, absolutely,” Andy Gourley, founder of support network Red Frogs, told Tom Elliott.
But Mr Gourley said there was no doubt behaviour had improved in recent years, with less teenagers drinking than previously.
“It’s always your hangers-on and toolies that are 90 per cent of the arrests,” he said.
