Tom Elliott says Melbourne should celebrate “Freedom Friday” but also reflect on the past 18 months.

“It’s a massive day for Melbourne,” he said.

“There is a reason to feel good about things now.”

But the 3AW Drive host said some valuable lessons should have been learned.

“The freedoms we’ve started to get back today are freedoms we should have always had,” he said.

“Don’t thank the politicians – the reason we have got our freedoms back is because the vast majority of us went out and got vaccinated.

“Collectively, we’ve done a wonderful thing for each other.”
