Rumour File: Heartless thieves cut Ascot Vale tribute at the ankles
RUMOUR FILE CONFIRMED
A moving new tribute to war veteran carers has been stolen from an Ascot Vale park.
Only the feet of the life-sized statue remain after the thieves cut the bronze woman at the ankles in Victory Park on Langs Road.
The monument was erected less than six months ago and stolen on Tuesday night.
Moonee Valley mayor Andrea Surace told Ross and John she didn’t know what the thieves would do with the statue, which was made mostly of an alloy.
‘It’s got huge sentimental value, but very little monetary value,’ she said.
