AFL boss says twilight grand final was ‘spectacular’
AFL boss Gillon McLachlan says the league will continually review the merit of moving the grand final away from its traditional time slot, even once it returns to the MCG.
McLachlan said the match under lights at Optus Stadium was “spectacular” on Saturday.
“I don’t think anything should be taken for granted,” the league chief said on 3AW.
“We’ll have a look at it.
“I know how many people want it during the day at the MCG and I think you play it on its merits, given the venue, the state and the circumstance.”
He also revealed the moment he knew he could relax and knew the game would be going ahead, with a crowd.
