Home buyers are resorting to knocking on front doors to make offers as the number of off-market property sales surge.

Mike McCarthy, Executive Director of Barry Plant Real Estate, told 3AW Breakfast “desperate” buyers were doing anything to find a market edge.

“There is a massive lack of supply at the moment, in Melbourne in particular,” he explained.

But he warns those considering selling it was incredibly hard to gauge the true value of a property.
