‘He reminds me of me’: Doug Hawkins’ man-crush at the Bulldogs
Bulldogs legend Doug Hawkins says he’s developed a “man-crush” on the club’s young gun Bailey Smith.
“I’ve actually fell in love with this kid with long hair,” he told Stephen Quatermain and Emily Power on 3AW Breakfast.
“He reminds me of me when I was 17 or 18 and locked up at Footscray, coming out of Baybrook – I had this long mullet at the back of my head.
“He’s just a fantastic kid, it looks like nothing really worries him.”
The iconic Bulldogs man added he’s confident his team will be victorious over a strong Melbourne outfit.
“I think we’ll get the job done, I really do, I just think we’re playing great footy at the moment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Demons legend David Neitz says he and some past players believe they can win.
“We’re all feeling pretty good about how the Demons are playing at the moment, it’s been an amazing brand of football that they’ve played” he said.
“We think it’s good enough to win it, but unfortunately we’ve got the Doggies standing in front of us and they’re also a pretty good team.”
