COVID-19 latest: Geelong, Surf Coast and Mitchell Shire plunged into lockdown
From 11:59pm tonight the City of Greater Geelong, the Surf Coast and Mitchell Shire will enter a seven-day lockdown at 11.59pm tonight.
Restrictions will be same as those in Ballarat and metropolitan Melbourne, excluding the curfew.
Shopping, exercise and outdoor social interaction will be limited to 10km from home in the three areas.
It comes after two new cases of COVID-19 were detected in Geelong yesterday, bringing active cases in the local government area to 17.
In Mitchell Shire, seven new cases were detected yesterday and there are now 15 active cases.
Two cases were detected on the Surf Coast yesterday.
Victoria recorded another death and 507 new local cases of COVID-19 across the state yesterday.
A number of cases have been identified overnight in Greater Geelong, Mitchell Shire, and the Surf Coast.
The Chief Health Officer has now declared that from 11:59pm on Sunday 19 Sept the City of Greater Geelong, the Surf Coast and Mitchell Shire will enter a seven-day lockdown.
