Union boss John Setka says a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for the construction sector is “unfortunate” but a reality of living in a pandemic.

The CFMMEU boss had previously voiced opposition to mandatory vaccination on 3AW, but the government revealed on Thursday being vaccinated would be a requirement to work on a site from the end of next week.

“Extreme circumstances sometimes call for extreme measures,” Mr Setka told Tom Elliott.

“It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.”
