Victoria’s COVID-19 roadmap: Premier reveals when restrictions are expected to ease
Melbourne will remain in lockdown until 70 per cent of the state has had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
That’s estimated to be on September 23.
The government announced on Wednesday “almost all” restrictions would remain in place until that number is hit.
“We are in for a difficult time,” the Premier said.
In some positive news, playgrounds will be re-opened from Friday for kids under 12. Only one parent or carer may be present. Playgrounds will have QR check in codes and adults cannot remove their masks to eat or drink while supervising their children on the playground.
Premier Daniel Andrews expects the lockdown will end in regional Victoria, with the exception of Shepparton, next week.
“We will confirm as soon as we can,” he said.
VCE students will also be given priority access to Pfizer vaccines from September 7. This will be conducted via localised arrangements, and schools will reach out to families to inform them of those arrangements.
The GAT will now be held on October 5.
When the state reaches 70% first dose vaccination the following rules are expected to be eased:
- 5km radius expanded to 10km
- Exercise allowance extended to three hours a day
- Outdoor gym equipment and skate parks reopen
- Outdoor personal training to be allowed for up to 22
- Real estate inspections for unoccupied properties will be permitted
- C
- Changes to on-site broadcasts
