Concerns paramedics, police and firefighters are ‘going in blind’ to COVID-19 emergencies
There are fears paramedics, firefighters and police officers are “going in blind” when being called to respond to emergencies, unaware they’re potentially entering a house full of people with COVID-19.
The ambulance union says it should be an easy fix.
“That (information) needs to be given straight away to emergency services,” Danny Hill, secretary of the Victorian Ambulance Union, told Neil Mitchell.
He said a system could be easily created where the Department of Health was able to flag that information with emergency crews once they’re called to a property for an emergency.
“You could be going into a household where everyone in the house has COVID,” Mr Hill said.
