Sean Wellman set to coach suspended Essendon players, says Sam McClure
Essendon premiership defender Sean Wellman will be the man in charge of keeping the club’s suspended players fit while serving doping bans, says Sam ‘Scoop’ McClure.
The 3AW newsbreaker said on Sports Today the Bombers would opt for one of their own after knocking back an offer from Mick Malthouse.
‘He (Wellman) was their backline coach for three years and it’s my understanding he’ll be the man in charge of keeping the suspended players fit,’ McClure said on 3AW.
Former Essendon assistant Sean Wellman set to coach the suspended players in 2016.
Fair to say; he comes cheaper than Mick.

Bomber Zach Merrett, who wasn’t at the club in 2012 and will play a crucial role for Essendon this year, said he wasn’t aware of the news but said Wellman would be a good appointment.
‘He’d be a great option,’ Merrett told 3AW.
‘Obviously he has a great relationship with them, so it’d be great if he was involved.’
