Victoria set to ‘significantly reduce’ plastic bag use
Victoria is set to ‘significantly reduce’ its usage of plastic bags.
Around four billion bags are used every year in Australia, with eight millions tons of plastic waste ending up in the marine environment.
While they won’t be banned outright, the Federal Environment Minister says Victoria is looking into ways to reduce them on a large scale.
‘It’s about working with the community to decrease the amount of waste,’ Greg Hunt said.
