The federal government has been widely panned over a new online education campaign that is supposed to teach students about sexual consent.

In one part of the video, a boy and girl share a milkshake.

She then smears froth over the boy’s face.

“I really think they’ve missed the mark,” Dr Chelsea Hyde, educational psychologist and senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne, told Neil Mitchell.

“We need to use the word sex, if that is what we are talking about, so young people can ask questions and clarify any concerns they may have.

“There should be no confusion about what consent is and why it’s important and how you should ask for it.”
