CONFIRMED: A number of people have escaped serious injury after a runaway bus crashed into a Knoxfield hairdressers last night.

The smash, which happened around 7pm Thursday, saw the driverless bus plow into the salon while a dozen or so people were getting their hair cut.

Remarkably, nobody was seriously hurt.

Caroline was among those customers.

‘All of a sudden there was a huge bang,’ she said.

‘I actually thought something was coming through the front of the shop.

‘My daughter, who was sitting next to me, thought it was an explosion.’

Caroline said the bus went through a waiting room, but luckily nobody was inside.

‘I think somebody was due in about 10 or 15 minutes and would have been in there ? so I hate to think what would have happened,’ she said.

Police have since confirmed they are looking into the incident, confirming a 36-year-old Endeavour Hills had been treated for minor injuries.

It’s believed a Ferntree Gully man, 49, had parked the bus and walked off when the bus began rolling away.
