Victoria’s paramedics to receive pay rise
Victoria’s paramedics will receive pay rise of between 12 and 28 per cent after a recommendation from the Fair Work Commission.
The commission was asked to determine paramedics’ work value due to increasing work demands.
The referral was part of the agreement struck between the Andrews Government and paramedics union after the 2014 election win.
The Fair Work Commission made its recommendations on Wednesday, finding the work undertaken by paramedics is more demanding, more complex and requires a higher level of skill.
The government has agreed to the pay rises recommended.
Experienced MICA paramedics will receive an $18,000 pay rise – going from $69,000 to $87,000 a year.
First year graduates will increase from $51,000 to $58,000.
